Sending automated notifications via WhatsApp is a beta feature on AppointmentGuru which means it's still in active development.

How does it work?

If you have opted in to send automated notifications by WhatsApp, this is how it works:

  1. When you create an appointment, a WhatsApp notification from AppointmentGuru is sent to your client.
  2. The notification will ask them to confirm the appointment (this is required to be able to give them access to the next action).
  3. They will get the option to tap on a menu to get more information on their appointment such as directions and forms.
  4. 24 hours before their appointment, there will be a reminder notification with the same information as the SMS.

Finding your WhatsApp settings on AppointmentGuru

  1. Log into your settings on settings.appointmentguru.co with your usual AppointmentGuru login details.
  2. On the left, click on "Settings" under "Spaces"
  3. Select the Space and go to the "Communication Settings" tab to edit the available settings.

Please note

  1. Beta means that it's a working feature actively in development. You may encounter a few minor bugs or improvements that need to be made. We encourage you to report any issues or suggest improvements - we want to hear from you!
  2. Meta restricts WhatsApp templates to automated fields only; custom or free-form text is not supported. Your messages will be automatically populated using your AppointmentGuru data, such as client name, appointment type, and practice details.
  3. We're monitoring the cost of WhatsApp notifications and currently absorbing any difference. However, due to the complexity of Meta’s pricing, we may need to pass on additional costs if platform fees or usage volumes exceed our current estimates. We’ll notify you well in advance if any adjustments become necessary!
  4. If you choose to use WhatsApp as a notification channel, SMS's will no longer be sent.
  5. Notifications are currently appointment confirmation and reminders only.
