When to delete and when to cancel an appointment
Learn about the differences between cancelling and deleting an appointment and when to use each
- Deleting an appointment will permanently remove it from your account
- Cancelling an appointment will mark the appointment as cancelled - it remains available for your reports and can be found in the client's profile
When to delete
Typically, you would delete an appointment if you made a mistake when creating it and you do not need any record of this appointment.
When to cancel
Cancellation is slightly different. Although a cancelled account is removed from the calendar, it remains on the clients profile.
There are several reasons you might prefer to cancel an appointment rather than delete it:
- If you charge a late cancellation fee or something of the like, a cancelled appointment can have a price and can be included on your invoices
- If you want to keep track of cancellations in your reports, this can be a valuable metric to watch
- If you want AppointmentGuru to automatically send a notification to your clients - this can be done when you cancel an appointment
